Winner: The Londoner Brew Pub

Old faithful Londoner Brew Pub. The beer is cold, the atmosphere is conversational, and the events are impressively fun. Whether you’re there for a random night or Sunday Blues Brunch, the vibe here is an upscale classic sports bar — complete with a microbrewery on site. Even though there is a family friendly pub feel during the day, this place, which has been shelling out pints and pub food since 1997, can party with the best of them. While it might be a little further from the Sukhumvit crowds (thank goodness), this space is about more than just a pint and a pie. 

The Royal Oak

There is no shortage of Irish and English pubs in Phrom Phong, but the Royal Oak is special. To start off, keep this venue bookmarked because it’s also where you’ll find some of the best comedy in town at Comedy Club Bangkok. Downstairs, the space is filled with a mainly foreigner crowd, and they boast a really good happy hour along with a menu that will give you a good base for all the beers you’ll inevitably down. In recent years, they’ve zhuzhed up the design with very British portraits all around the bar. 

Robin Hood

Robin Hood is a very convenient sports pub, and the first port of call for a lot of drinkers starting (and ending) their night. Conveniently located — and kind of hard to miss — this spot found right off of the Phrom Phong BTS is a great location for anyone who likes sports and who prefers to walk off and then stumble back on the train to get home. This long-running British-leaning boozer is decked out in dark woods, and the large classic pub windows open to the Sukhumvit. 

The Old English

The old The Old English was a much bigger space, but the new The Old English still has the same fun atmosphere and the same great wings. Today, The Old English is so close to the Thonglor BTS it might as well be on it. Take our advice and try to go early to get a seat indoors. The outside seating is fun, but loud. That said, you’ll have to search pretty far in this city to find better pub grub. And trust us about the wings. 

The Black Swan

Let’s face it, there aren’t a lot of tolerable pubs north of the Asoke BTS because of — ahem — reasons. But, The Black Swan is a nice little hideaway with cheap drinks, low lights, and a fun staff. For a little extra peace and quiet, head upstairs for a better conversation and a more intimate atmosphere. You’ll also find a big menu of regular pub fare to keep you going, and a happy hour that runs from 11am to 9pm.
