Winner: Supawit “Palm” Muttarattana
For a record second year in a row, the voters on the Bangkok nightlife scene have seen fit to honor Supawit “Palm” Muttarattana as this city’s best mixologist.
Last year’s Dry Wave Cocktail Studio was the nightlife barnburner, so it was no surprise to see Palm nab this award, but this year it’s the momentum that is keeping this bartender in both Bangkok hearts and the headlines.
Palm and his wife Ae struck gold with Dry Wave. Last year, Palm said he would slow things down and focus on his family. Instead, in the last year he’s added to the magic with Cherry Olive Cocktail Club tucked away on Convent Road. Both are now Bangkok cocktail must-tries.
With a history at Bangkok haunts like Rabbit Hole and Vesper, Palm has built an empire on reputation and good drinks, this year earning Dry Wave Cocktail Studio the honor of being Thailand’s best bar at Asia’s 50 Best Bars.
The slow, carefree style of these two venues is a ruse. Don’t be fooled. Palm is a juggernaut. Dry Wave Cocktail Studio and Cherry Olive Cocktail Club have cemented this mixologist’s brand in the city, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
